Pennsylvania Man  Sues Johnson & Johnson for Damages

Thousands of compensatory damage claims remain pending against Johnson & Johnson, yet  it seems that the number will keep on rising, economic experts say. A Pennsylvania man, who received a Pinnacle hip implant and who claimed it was a defective implant, is seeking financial redress for sleepless nights, fears, and worries arising from metal poisoning.

The DePuy Pinnacle hip system, which replaced his diseased hip joint, is mainly made up of cobalt and chromium metal components. The device goes through the same wear and tear progression in which some of the flakes would build up in surrounding tissues and tiny metal shards cause toxicity. A blood sample from the complainant reveals a high level of chromium and cobalt ions which may have been the cause of some patients experiencing metal poisoning.
